Victor Toral is an interdisciplinary artist with an extensive knowledge of both classical and electric guitar. He studied “Classical Guitar” and “Pedagogy” at the universities Mozarteum and Salzburg Universität, as well as “Philosophy” and “Theory of Literature” at the Complutense University of Madrid. He has given solo classical guitar recitals and performed as a guitarist of jazz and popular music in different ensembles as well as taught in different countries such as Austria, Spain, United States, Mexico, Germany, Finland, Norway and Lithuania.
In his first solo album Victor Toral immerses himself fully into the tradition of popular music and jazz. With lush arrangements full of reharmonizations and a crystalline lyricism, the themes are presented without effects, directly from the sound of the jazz guitar.
It is precisely the warmth of the sound that gives personality to Victor’s guitar. The artist’s work is a deep investigation of sound, of its multiple registers and colors. Given his training, the influence of traditions and techniques ranging from Baroque to contemporary times, via Impressionism and Counterpoint is remarkable in his solo guitar arrangements.
